About you
Your position and languages decide which pairings you can hold.
Your answers save as you go.
Step 1 of 9
Days off
Days off
Tap a day once for Off, twice for UDO, again to clear. Tap a holiday to choose what to do with it.
What is a UDO?
An untouchable day off. It protects the whole day, including the night before, and you can’t be given flying or drafted on it (L55.14.13.03). You can pick more than 5, but at most 5 are awarded, in the order you picked them, by seniority.
Off, UDO or Work?
Off asks for the day off. UDO asks harder, for the days that matter most. Work (holidays only) means you want to fly that day.
Step 2 of 9
Credit hours
Credit hours
How many paid hours you want this month: anywhere from 75 to 95.
What are credit hours?
The hours you are paid for: mostly flight time, plus guarantees when a duty pays more than its flying.
How PBS fills your hours
PBS adds pairings until your line passes the airline’s target, then stops. It only gives up your other wishes if your line would end up below the minimum.
Why 75 and 95?
75:00 is the minimum you can bid. 95:00 is the most the agreement allows in a month.
Step 3 of 9
Layovers
Layover cities
Tap a city once to like it, twice to avoid it, three times to clear.
What is a layover?
A night in another city during a trip of 2 or more days. You stay at a hotel and earn per diem while away.
Step 4 of 9
Turns
Turns
Tap a city once to like it, twice to avoid it, three times to clear. Brackets show how many there are.
What is a turn?
A 1-day trip: you fly out and back to YVR the same day and sleep at home. No hotel night.
Step 5 of 9
Trip length
Trip length
Tap a length once to like it, twice to avoid it, three times to clear. Brackets show how many there are.
What is a pairing?
One trip, from leaving YVR to coming back. A 1-day pairing is a turn; a 4-day pairing has 3 nights away.
Step 6 of 9
Times
Optional.
Times
Limit when your days start and end. Leave anything blank or unselected if you don’t mind.
Check-in and check-out
Check-in is when your duty starts at the airport. Check-out is when it ends after the last flight.
Is earliest check-in a guarantee?
No. It asks PBS for later starts first, but Rouge’s screen has no “before” option, so it can’t rule earlier ones out. If your line is still short, PBS can add them.
What is a red-eye?
A flight that flies through the night.
Step 7 of 9
Extras
Optional.
Extras
Tap a choice to pick it, tap again to clear. Leave it unselected if you don’t mind.
What is a deadhead?
Flying as a passenger to get to or from a trip. It counts for credit, but you are not working the flight.
Per diem and credit per day away
Per diem is the allowance paid for time away from base. Credit per day away favours trips that pay more hours for each day you are gone.
Lead pairings
Trips where you would work as the lead flight attendant (if you are lead-qualified).
Never take
Pairing numbers you never want, like V8324.
Step 8 of 9
Waive protections
Optional.
Waive protections
These rest rules protect you. Only waive one if you want a heavier line.
What do they mean?
1 day off in 7: at least one day off in any 7 days. 4 days off in 14: at least four days off in any 14 days. Both come from LOU 55.
Optional
Optional extras
The next 3 pages are extras. Most people skip them.
Skip the extras?
Step 9 of 9
What matters most?
How should your line balance pay and days off?
Adjust
What does this change?
It decides what wins when your wishes pull in different directions. More money fills your hours and favours layovers with high per diem. More days off keeps hours lighter for longer breaks. Your days off, cities and other picks above still count either way.
Your line
Your bid
Enter these lines in PBS, top to bottom, in the same words. Tap a line to copy it.

Profile
Some flights need a French (BL) or Spanish (SP) speaker. Those seats go to qualified crew by seniority. Lead shows only lead pairings.
Tap “Save these wishes as my defaults” on the last Wishes step to keep your usual layovers, hours and times. Days off are never saved because they change.
